Library & Other Learning Resources
Library plays an important role in the academic achievement of students. In fact, a well-equipped college Library can supplement a lot to get quality education even in the era of internet technology. The library boasts excellent facilities and it serves as a place for quiet reading, group collaboration, individual research and recreational reading. It is an essential component of the college research and education mission. It is the liveliest place in the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge. It leaves a sound impact on the class room teaching. Considering this importance, emphasis is being given to develop the college library with all sorts of digital facilities for the benefit of the students and the teaching faculty. Located in the main college building, the Library has a collection of over 6,000 books besides e-resources, magazines and journals. Students may borrow books and use the reading-room as well as smart class room facility. Teachers too may use the book borrowing and reading-room facilities.
Rules of the Library
- On production of the Identity Card, each student will be provided with Borrower's Cards against which books will be issued.
- Library Cards are non-transferable. Loss of this card must be reported immediately to the Library in-charge and a fresh card will be issued on payment of fine.
- Honours Course students may borrow two books at a time. Books must be returned within 15 days from the date of issue.
- If the books are returned after the due date, borrowing facility will be temporarily withdrawn.
- Any book lost, damaged or defaced must be replaced by the borrower. The borrower will have no right to use the library, until and unless the damage is compensated by the borrower.
- Books will not be issued on Saturdays. However, Reading Room will remain open for the students.
- Students must renew their library cards after taking fresh admission in the second year and third year.
- Students must return their library books before appearing for the final year examination.
- Students seeking transfer and students appearing in Part I, Part II and Part III Examinations must obtain a clearance certificate from the librarian before issuance of a transfer certificate or admit card.
- A student, keeping a book beyond 15 days without renewal, will be charged a fine of Re.1 for every extra day. Students appearing for the University Examinations are advised to deposit the books at proper time after the examinations are over, failing which they will be charged a fine of Rs.2 per day.
- For any damage found at the time of returning of an issued document, the borrower has to pay a cost for the repair of the same.
Working Hours
On working days, before examination days, during examination days, during recess:
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday)
10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (on Saturday)
Smart Class
To ensure a good deal of teacher-student interaction and academic flexibility, one smart classroom has been installed in our college at library with Smart board, audio-visual system, Projector, and Video conference facility.
