College Rules and Regulations

Students admitted to this college are to abide by the rules and regulations of the college, the University and the orders of the Principal/ Government. The students are advised to keep themselves aware of the Institute rules to ensure a peaceful campus atmosphere. Ignorance of rules shall not be an excuse for violation. Violation of Rules and Regulations by any student is punishable by the College authority. Offenders are liable to face the penalty of either detention from appearing the examination or expulsion from the College.

  • Students are expected to be regular in the classes and maintain a minimum of 75% attendance compulsorily in each semester as per Vidyasagar University regulations and failure of which is not entitled to appear in University examinations.
  • No student shall abstain himself from classes without obtaining prior sanction/intimation for leave from the concerned department/ Principal.
  • In case of sickness Medical Certificate shall be furnished from Registered Medical practitioner. Producing a medical certificate however does not entitle a student to get attendance.
  • Late arrival into Classrooms/ Laboratories is a breach of discipline. A student will not be allowed to enter the Classroom /Laboratory 15 minutes after classes have commenced.
  • Use of Cell phones inside the classrooms is strictly prohibited.
  • Internal assessment is part of the evaluation. Two internal examinations are conducted for B.A. / B.Sc. (Hons.) /(General) students. Absence in such tests, even with medical certificate, cannot entitle a student for a re-test.
  • Participation in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities inside or outside the campus is not counted as absence from class. Attendance will be counted only when a copy of the participation certificate or a note from the concerned teacher is produced before the Head of the Department.
  • It is compulsory for the students to attend functions /activities/observance organized by the institute on various occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, Annual Day, etc. whether the function falls on a working day or on holidays. Absence from such functions without valid reasons will invite disciplinary action.
  • As per the directive of the University Grants Commission, ragging is totally banned in the campus. Proper action shall be initiated against defaulters.
  • Students shall avoid using any insulting, inciting, threatening language when talking with fellow students and should totally avoid violence.
  • Any discrimination on the bases of Caste, Race, Gender, Socio-economic-cultural aspect is strictly prohibited in the college premises.
  • Possession of the student identity card signed by the Principal is compulsory. Identity cards will be issued to all bonafide students after admission and the same must be renewed during the subsequent academic years.
  • Students are expected to carry their Identity Card with them always. Failure to wear the college identity card will be treated as misconduct and such students will be barred from entering the campus and class room.
  • Students are expected to show respect to all teachers regardless of whether they are directly taught by them or not. Stern action will be taken against students who are disrespectful to teachers in words or in actions.
  • The College is declared an alcohol-smoke-drug-free zone. Any student found smoking and drinking of any liquor with alcohol content and taking other intoxicants is prohibited within the College campus and during College functions. Students found guilty of such prohibited acts are punishable by suspension from College and such students will be prohibited from attending all other College activities/ functions. All kinds of unruly behavior, whether as an outcome of drinking alcohol or not, is strictly prohibited. Habitual offenders will be expelled from the College.
  • Students are expected to read notices/circulars displayed on the college notice board. Ignorance of not reading any notice/circular thus displayed shall not be accepted as an excuse for failing to comply with the directions contained in it. The notice displayed on these notice boards shall be deemed to have been served on the students. Students are to submit applications to the Principal for any requirements such as issuance of any certificate, any claim for Railway Concession, Character Certificate, Identity Card, etc. at least 7 days in advance to the college office.
  • The students will compensate damage to College property caused by neglect or wilful damage. Defacing the walls or institute property will be viewed seriously.
  • Students must make all possible efforts to conserve electricity and water. They must switch off lights & fans when they leave the class room, lab etc.
  • Students are expected to keep their class rooms clean and hygienic and help to keep the institute neat and clean and preserve the sanctity of the college. The corridors and staircases and the college premises are not meant for loitering and lounging.
  • Students are not allowed to carry any harmful weapons / gadgets with them inside the College campus.
  • The College Authority holds the rights to issue transfer certificate/ rusticate guilty student if it considers that such action is necessary in the interest of the college without assigning any reason and as recommended by the disciplinary committee or by the discretion of the Principal alone.
